Zonal Planning & Development
Zonal Planning and Development
We promote coordinated, community-led planning that balances growth with sustainability. By aligning land use, infrastructure, environmental protection, and local economic priorities, we support structured development that safeguards the character of the Limuru Highlands while creating long-term opportunities for residents and investors alike.
The Statutory Framework of the Limuru Highlands Trust
The name “Limuru Highlands” and the theme of the Plan “The Limuru Highlands We Want” were chosen as our
Brand by residents. The Zonal Spatial Plan, a popular version and the detailed Zonal Spatial Plan and Ordinances
were completed in April 2022. The Limuru Highlands is an area, measuring approximately 133km2
(Limuru Sub-County measures approximately 286 km2) and is embedded within the Integrated Sub-County Urban Development
Plan (ISUDP) for Limuru and Kiambaa Sub-Counties.
The Zonal Plan includes detailed base maps, showing educational, health, housing, social, recreational facilities,
roads, power lines, wetlands, dams, rivers, forests, market centres, police stations, factories, and many other
features; including laws and ordinances that govern Development Control. In 2021, the Limuru Highlands Trust was
registered to own this plan and ensure its implementation for the benefit of every Limuru Highlands resident,
numbering over 1200 households. The Trust was incorporated in August 2023.
